Victoria State Government, Australia is in the final stages before launching a location based emergency alert system this December. When the system is in place, it will enable authorities to send a text to every mobile phone switched on in a geographic area. The system will be available across Australia. Emergency service agencies will be able to deliver warnings to mobile phones based on their location to notify Victorians of fire, flood or other major hazards at a moment’s notice. Telstra has signed as the first carrier with the service. Mobilaris is proud to play a key role in the solution by enabling Telstra as the only operator in Australia being able to warn its customers should an emergency occur.
Mobilaris provides the central logic that fetches the location of mobile phones in a danger area and coordinates the delivery of emergency messages to mobile phones. When fully operational, the system will address one of the major flaws in the existing system, that of alerting visitors on holidays.
