Mobilaris Americas, the US subsidiary of Mobilaris Mining & Civil Engineering in Sweden, is happy to announce the donation of safety and efficiency software to the University of Arizona. By providing the software product portfolio Mobilaris Mining Intelligence (MMI) to the Department of Mining and Geological Engineering the students will have access to the latest technology for digitalization of underground mining, resulting in increased safety, efficiency and productivity.
The MMI software will offer the University the ability to train its engineers on the most advanced tool for positioning, visualization, and decision support that is available in underground mining today. The software offers key benefits to the mining enterprise: first, it offers situational awareness for miners, allowing them to find people, machines, assets, and to manage the mine with significant improvements in efficiency. Second, the various components of MMI allow for tremendous advances in underground mining safety to complement the improvements in efficiency.
“We are grateful for this arrangement. Putting our decision-support solution in the hands of the professors and students at the University of Arizona, which has a great reputation in the mining field, will give the Wildcat engineers a head start as they work in the mining profession,” said Alex Cortez, CEO of Mobilaris Americas. “We believe that this will have a positive impact on the development of the mining industry.”
“The software is going to allow students to work with cloud-based technologies that could be used here on campus and at the San Xavier Mine,” said Victor Tenorio professor of practice in the Department of Mining and Geological Engineering. “The software is very innovative in terms of optimizing the safety and efficiency of underground mines.”
The donation will officially be made on Monday 27 January starting at 9:00 AM with installation and a training session on the software. Senior executives from Mobilaris Sweden will be in Tucson for the occasion together with Alex Cortez, CEO Mobilaris Americas.
